Our Mission
Our mission is to enhance the lives of dogs in our community. We are committed to saving dogs from the streets and overcrowded shelters, providing essential care and support, and helping to facilitate successful fosters and adoptions that result in lifelong relationships. Recognizing that each dog and human is unique, we will work patiently and thoughtfully to help create loving and responsible connections. Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, we aim to honor the joy, comfort, and love that dogs bring into our lives by giving them the same in return.

About Our Rescue
Hair of the Dog - A Bay Area Rescue is a foster based rescue. While we are a young organization, founded in 2024, our passion and experience in the animal rescue world goes way beyond the current year.
While volunteering at other organizations throughout The Bay Area, we discovered that there can never be too many rescues or volunteers in this overwhelming industry. There are always dogs in need of shelter, care, love, and compassion. And we are here for it.
We are inspired by our community's incredible generosity and concern for dogs in need and strive to help one dog at a time with their continued support. We believe that the purpose in life is to contribute to making things better.
