Interested in Becoming a Foster?
As a foster based rescue, Hair of the Dog places dogs in pre-screened foster homes where they can relax and adjust to a loving, healthy environment. A happy, healthy pup is able to truly be themselves. This makes it much easier to find their person. We aim to make matches that last.
If you would like to foster, you must be committed to keeping the dog until they are adopted. While we can never be sure how long it will take for a dog to be adopted, Hair of the Dog will be diligent in marketing. All pictures and personality information you can provide will help us to accurately present each pup to the public and find their true home. Hair of the Dog will be there to support you throughout the foster process.
Dogs will be current on vaccines and spayed/neutered per California law prior to and/or during foster care (puppies). Hair of the Dog will cover these costs. If you are able to provide the basics (food, bed, leash, etc) it is greatly appreciated. Hair of the Dog is a nonprofit/donation based organization. However, we will help with supplies as needed during foster care. We will also help with essential medical needs as they come up.
